The World Heritage Site of Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument of unique importance; elsewhere around the region you can explore the massive Iron Age hill fort of Old Sarum, unearth the remains of the Roman villa at Rockbourne, or discover the unusual hexagonal ruins of Old Wardour Castle.

Tudor, Elizabethan, Palladian, Queen Anne: south Wiltshire’s stately homes reflect changes in English taste and fashion, while the landscape in which they sit varies from impressive acres of parkland to smaller, more intimate settings. Highlights include the world-famous gardens at Stourhead, Wilton House, Breamore House and Mompesson House.
