Channel Islands -Alderney Holiday Brochure

Alderney, the third largest of the Channel Islands, has pledged allegiance to the English Crown for close on 1,000 years and is frequently described as the most British of the Channel Islands. Yet, Alderney (Aurigny in French) has a distinctly French flavour which is not surprising: the island’s closest neighbour, France, is only 8 miles away.

Alderney offers the perfect ingredients for a short or long holiday, at any time of the year. Here you will find a choice of cosy, privately-owned hotels, friendly guest houses and pleasant holiday homes and a uniquely-positioned camp site.

Enjoy the culinary delights and hospitality of Alderney across a selection of excellent restaurants and pubs with real character. If you are keen on birds of the feathered kind, or interested in flora and fauna, find out all about the Alderney Wildlife Trust. If your favourite pastime includes special interests and you’re looking for some action, don’t forget to bring your golf clubs ,tennis rackets or fishing rods.

If you’re looking for entertainment, there is always something going on in Alderney. Amazingly, this little island boasts over thirty social, sporting and cultural clubs and associations who between them provide a busy diary of events throughout the year, many of which welcome visitor members.

Alderney is an island for every season - whatever the weather. There is something for everyone every week of the year. Wonderful walks, rough pathways across the common and the long, rugged cliffs, excellent golf and great tennis.

Golden, sandy and blissfully uncrowded beaches, the pretty town of St. Anne’s, the beautiful, quiet beaches, and an abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife, wild pheasants, black rabbits and blonde, yes blonde, hedgehogs, and much more….

Unlike the other Channel Islands, Alderney as not been affected by mainstream tourism. That’s what makes Alderney so special and that’s probably the reason why such a large number of visitors come back to Alderney, year after year, for more.
