White Cliffs Country- Dover Deal and Sandwich- Kent Holiday Brochure

The landscape is unforgettable, and the views from the world famous White Cliffs of Dover are simply breathtaking. They make a delightful contrast with the picturesque narrow streets at Deal and Sandwich's medieval quayside.

This is White Cliffs Country, a wonderful place to visit. The cliffs themselves and busy Dover Harbour below are best viewed from the top of the White Cliffs or from the Western Heights. On a good day you can see France, 21 miles across the Channel.

Deal's ancient maritime flavour can be experienced if you take a walk through the old part of town; Middle Street is well known for its fine unspoilt houses and cottages dating from the 1700s, while over in Sandwich, the winding streets and ancient buildings are a reminder of the time hundreds of years ago when this was one of England's most important sea ports.

One of the best ways to see White Cliffs Country is to join a guided walk or cycle ride. These take place all year round and vary from a stroll through town in the company of actors, to the isolation of coastal paths.

Magical castles abound in White Cliffs Country. There is the world famous Dover Castle, which stands grandly on the cliffs above the sea with its dungeons and secret wartime tunnels. Then there's Walmer Castle where you can see the original Wellington Boots owned by the Duke himself and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother's celebration garden. Or why not visit Deal Castle with its impressive Tudor Rose design? Just along the coast, you can also visit Richborough Roman Ruins, where Julius Caesar's invading army fills the imagination.

Visit us, and you'll discover for yourself that White Cliffs Country is the place to enjoy the very best of life.
